The idea for Million Love Stories sparked when co-founder Jared Bakewell was watching ABC's 'The Bachelor' with his very beautiful, very pregnant wife. While she was enduring all of the emotions and pains of carrying their daughter, he was feeling the isolation of not being able to take away the burden of pregnancy. While they knew this was part of the sickness and health they’d prepared for, sitting together on that couch, both longed to relive their own moments that resembled those being captured onscreen.

It occurred to Jared that they could both have benefited from what these contestants were receiving; video documentation of how and why they had fallen in love. All couples experience moments of loneliness during their relationship, and a reminder of how much they truly love one another could be a lifeline in moments of stress, isolation, or poor communication.

​The spark of that idea grew when Jared realized that it wasn't just their love story he wished he had captured on video. He'd recently lost a grandfather, and Jared's daughters would never know one of the love stories that formed their family. It was a heartbreaking realization that one more love story was lost. Jared wanted to ensure that anyone who wanted to preserve their own had the tools to do it, but he couldn’t make it happen alone.

​Jared immediately contacted the most talented fellow videographer he knew, Michael Gene Wilson, and explained the idea. Michael, who had filmed hundreds of weddings, was instantly on board.

​

​Soon, Jared and Michael began filming love story videos for friends. They continued to receive requests through word of mouth, and so the project grew. The response quickly became overwhelming, and the demand proved how needed this service truly was. Each story was unique. Each was one in a million.
